Thursday is college night at Cavanaugh’s University City. Starting at 9 p.m., come in for $3 single well drinks, $5.50 double wells, $6 malibu buckets and $7 MHL pitchers. To make this place even more worthwhile, FREE pizza is served from 11 p.m. until 1 a.m. and wings are only 60 cents from 4 p.m. until midnight. If you’re looking to turn in early, stop in during its happy hour for $2 off bottles and $2.75 domestic drafts, among other specials.

At this down to earth bar, its Thursday happy hour is from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and features half off all drafts, $1 hot dogs and $1 tacos. Mad River is a sports bar on Main Street in Manayunk that’s popular among partiers and sports fans alike. Grab a seat in its roomy main room to watch the game and hang out with your friends or head to its outdoor deck for fantastic views of the river. On Thursdays, from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m., enjoy $1 bud light bottles and $2 you-call its. While enjoying your drink, order something off of its menu. The food here is cheap, too, and consists of American bar food.

McFadden’s is a popular party spot in Old City with great specials throughout the week. On Thursday, if you buy a wristband for $10 at the door, select drafts and house cocktails cost only a quarter from 9 p.m. to noon.  Do the math, and that’s four drinks for only $1. Pre-game during its happy hour, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., and enjoy half price appetizers and drinks.

Since it opened the year Abraham Lincoln was elected president in 1860, McGillin’s Olde Ale House has the distinction of being the “longest continually operating tavern in Philadelphia.” It’s one of the more popular Irish pubs around and for good reason. Specials on pitchers and drinks are offered daily. Come in on a Thursday for $3 margaritas, $6.50 pitcher of PBR and  $7.75 pitchers or Bud light, Miller Lite or Yuengling Light. Enjoy your drink while viewing the open mic night, held on the 2nd floor at 9 p.m.
