Philadelphia Makes Another List, This Time As One Of The Best Cities For Singles

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – If you live in Philadelphia and your plans for V-Day include a massive tub of ice cream, sappy movies and your couch, don't worry: The City of Brotherly Love has once again been ranked among the best for (straight) singles.

Financial website NerdWallet.com used three factors -- the percentage of unmarried residents, the number of arts and entertainment venues per 1,000 people, and the average price of a three-course meal for two and two movie tickets -- to compile its list of the 20 best U.S. cities for the unattached.

Along with Boston and D.C., Philadelphia topped the list "as home to the unmarried, the young and the educated."

In Philly, 68% of the population is not married and the average date costs $72 for a total score of 66 and a third place ranking.

"Philly has plenty of singles and a rich arts culture — a big help when it comes to a night out, which is more affordable here than in other major cities," NerdWallet writes, before suggesting a Friday night date at the PMA's Art After 5.

Boston came in first, while D.C. ranked second. Baltimore came in fourth, and Cleveland rounded out the top five.

If you're a man living in Philly, you're even luckier – the city ranks as the second-best for single men, with 122.57 unmarried women for every 100 unmarried men. In 2013, Philly ranked fourth for single men on NerdWallet's list.

So rest easy. With Valentine's Day less than two weeks away, there's still time to find a date in one of America's best cities for singles.
