Philadelphia Police Say Single High-Powered Weapon Linked To Multiple Shootings

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia police say a single high-powered weapon was used in multiple shootings over the course of about a week.

In a press conference on Friday afternoon, police said that ballistics have linked an AK-47-style high-powered weapon to two shootings in one neighborhood – one on April 4th at 7th and Venango that wounded one person and killed another, and another on April 13th at 7th and Clearfield that wounded two people (see related story).

They also showed surveillance video of both shootings, which happened about four blocks apart. In one, a still frame of the suspected murderer can be seen. In another, people can be seen scrambling for cover as bullets ricochet off of the walls outside a business.

In an effort to nab the assailant, police say they are offering two rewards, one for information leading to the homicide suspect's arrest and another for the recovery of the weapon and the arrest of the person who has it.
