2 Dead, 3 Critical After Violent Night In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police are investigating a series of shootings and other crime that occurred throughout Philadelphia overnight.

The first incident occurred right before 11 p.m. Saturday night on the 3100 block of North 7th and Clearfield Streets injuring three people.

Police say a 19-year-old man was standing on the corner of 7th and Clearfield with a 22-year-old man when an unidentified suspect began shooting.

The 19-year-old was shot in his arm once and taken to Temple University Hospital by a private vehicle in stable condition. The 22-year-old was not injured says police.

A 37-year-old man was standing on a different corner at the same intersection and was hit once in the groin area, says police. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

The third victim suffered a graze wound from debris after a bullet went through a wood panel next to a window and hit the glass of a counter, investigators report. The 42-year-old victim, who owns New Hong Kong, did not receive any treatment.
Police say the suspect is a black male with a dark complexion and may be wearing a white hoodie or white baseball cap.

Police are also investigating the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old man who was found dead inside a blue GMC Yukon, with a gunshot wound to the head just after 2:30 a.m. outside of VIP Nightclub, located at 3528 I Street in Kensington.

According to police, the victim was at the nightclub with friends when shots were fired outside of the club. Police say the bouncer of the club heard the shots and exchanged gunfire with the gunman.

Investigators say they are still piecing together what occurred and are questioning possible witnesses.

A second deadly shooting that occurred around the same time on the 4700 block of Penn Street, is also being investigated. Police say an unidentified 31-year-old male was found with a gunshot wound in his left side. He was taken to Einstein Hospital where he was pronounced.

No arrests have been made.

Police are also looking into a stabbing that occurred in the Olney section of the city. Police say an unidentified man was stabbed around 2:30 a.m. after an argument at a nightclub. The victim was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Hospital in critical condition.
