Missing 5-Year-Old Boy Found In South Carolina, Suspect In Custody

WEST WINDSOR, N. J. (CBS) – Authorities in South Carolina have found a five-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped by his grandfather in Mercer County last week.

Authorities say David Lundy was reportedly taken from the 400 block of Meadow Road in West Windsor on Friday, June 15th by his grandfather, 50-year-old Morris "Tommy" Lundy, of New York. It was initially believed the two were headed to New York.

However, authorities in Florence, South Carolina received information that David and his grandfather were at a McDonald's restaurant on West Lucas Street in Florence at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Florence police were dispatched to the restaurant where they arrested Morris Lundy; He has been charged by the West Windsor Police Department with kidnapping, interference with child custody and endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held in the Florence County Jail pending extradition.

David Lundy was evaluated and found to be in good spirits with no issues related to his asthma. He will spend the night in Florence and from the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services will coordinate his return.
