Wednesday's Child: Ashayah

Ashayah's gorgeous voice graces her school's choir.

(Audio of Ashayah singing "Halo" by Beyoncé:)

"Remember those walls I built
Well, baby they're tumbling down
And they didn't even put up a fight
They didn't even make up a sound

"I found a way to let you in
But I never really had a doubt
Standing in the light of your halo
I got my angel now."

"Sometimes we perform at different schools," she says, "sometimes competitions. We practice and we sing our songs and then our other group dances."

Some day, 11-year-old Ashayah says, she would love to sing for a permanent family. She describes the qualities most important to her:

"Somebody that's loving and caring and will always be there for you."

Her social worker, Karen Reynolds, says Ashayah loves learning.

"She asks a lot of questions, she's very inquisitive," Reynolds says. "She would do excellent in a home where she's the youngest child or no children in the home, because she really thrives on that one-on-one attention."
