'Real, Everyday' Philadelphia Natives Named Speakers For DNC

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Along with the headliners, like President Obama, there will be plenty of lower-profile speakers at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia next week, including four Philadelphians who are on the card for Tuesday night.

The Democrats announced 20 speakers who they describe as "everyday Americans," each with a story that matches the theme of the night they're speaking. The four Philadelphia speakers all work for nonprofits advocating for youth or the disabled. They will take the stage Tuesday night when the theme is "a lifetime of fighting for children and families."

Thaddeus Desmond is a child advocate social worker; Dynah Haubert is a lawyer who works for a disability rights organization; Kate Burdick is a staff attorney for the Juvenile Law Center; and Anton Moore is the founder of Unity in the Community aimed at educating young people about gun violence.

"We focus on trying to bring needed resources and also try to stop the gun violence here in the South Philadelphia community," Moore said.

Moore hasn't written his speech yet, but he knows a big theme will be unity.

"Everyone needs to come to the table, check their egos at the door and be very, very sincere about addressing the problems America is facing right now," he said.

Moore says he's awed at the opportunity.
