Doug Pederson Says Sam Bradford Fits His 'West Coast-ish' System Perfectly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- For the first time as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, Doug Pederson addressed the media during a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

The most polarizing personnel decision the Eagles will have to make this system will be to re-sign Sam Bradford, or not. After listening to Pederson speak, it seems like the Eagles will at least do their part in retaining Bradford.

"I think Sam is a quality quarterback," Pederson said. "I think he's a top-notch quarterback. Look what he did the last half of the season. The numbers that he was able to put up. I feel like he's an individual, he's a quarterback that would fit perfectly into a system that I'm going to bring.

"I don't know him personally," Pederson said of Bradford. "I think he's a tremendous player. I liked him coming out of college when we evaluated him before. I think Sam, he's got all the tools. He's got good size, he's a great arm, good mind for the name. And it's just a matter now of plugging him in and cutting him loose. And utilizing those strengths in this system."

Pederson clarified the style of offense he runs, when a reporter mentioned his "west coast" system.

"You say west coast," Pederson said. "I think that has kind of gone by the waist side just a touch. The core values, some of the core plays are west coast-ish. We've developed a hybrid type system. We utilize our players and quarterback's strength with the offensive system.
