Doug Pederson Makes First Impression As Eagles Head Coach

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- This afternoon, the 23rd head coach in Philadelphia Eagles history, Doug Pederson was introduced to Philadelphia.

"What intrigued me about coming back to Philadelphia?" Pederson said. "One is an opportunity to lead young men. An opportunity to be surrounded by quality individuals, top-notch individuals. A tremendous owner. An owner that gives you the fullest support. The players that are in this room. The challenge to them is that we're gonna work everyday. We're gonna work hard everyday."

It wasn't Pederson's first introduction to The City of Brotherly Love. It wasn't even his second.

Pederson stood in front of a packed house at the Novacare Complex as he made a homecoming of sorts. He served as a quarterback and role model to Donovan McNabb during the 1999 season with the Eagles.

He then returned in 2009 to serve as a quality control coach before being promoted to the team's quarterback coach in 2011.

"I understand the culture and passion of Philadelphia, I get it," Pederson said. "I experience that as a quarterback in 1999. I experienced that first-hand. And now coming back, I understand what it feels like to win in this city."

Pederson had his first opportunity to show off his ability to connect to people this afternoon as he addressed players, media members and perhaps most importantly, the fans.
