Beach Erosion Will Keep One-Third Of North Wildwood Beaches Closed Memorial Day Weekend

WILDWOOD, N.J. (CBS) -- One-third of North Wildwood's beaches will be closed this Memorial Day weekend. It's all due to a beach replenishment project that is behind schedule.

A late-season Nor'easter washed away a large amount of sand that had already been dispersed.

Lifeguards will be posted on every other block and families will only be allowed in the ocean waist-deep.

Mayor Patrick Rosenello says the beach replenishment project is currently two weekends behind schedule.
