New Bills Could Let Philadelphia Restaurants Set Up Outdoor Dining Permanently

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Outdoor dining may become a permanent fixture in Philadelphia.

New bills introduced to the city council would make outdoor dining a permanent option for restaurants.

The arrangement became a necessity for restaurants during the pandemic as the city restricted indoor dining to limit COVID spread. The emergency licenses for the outdoor setup expire at the end of the year.
