Chester Mayor Concerned, Disappointed Over City's COVID Vaccination Rate

CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) -- Chester's mayor is expressing concern and disappointment over the vaccination rate in his city.

"We would have hoped to be at least at 50% by this time, instead the information we have compiled and received we are now at 27%. That is woefully low and it's dangerous," Mayor Thaddeus Kirkland said.

The City of Chester has a population of about 35,000 people.

About 9,600 have been fully vaccinated.
