The district argued that giving them out would violate stay-at-home orders.

On Wednesday night, the students and Maddy's mom told us they were thrilled with the district's decision.

"I just feel like it's almost a sigh of relief, like OK, we've got this now, we're good," Maddy said.

"It wasn't coming from a place where I wanted this for me, it was I wanted this for all of the seniors in the city," Louisa said.

"They wanted their voices heard and they were heard. I really want to thank Dr. Hite for listening," Mary Beth Malloy said.

There is no word on the pick-up date yet.

A virtual graduation for the Class of 2020 will be held next month.
