DOVER, Del. (CBS) — There is a new police chief in Dover, Delaware. Thomas Johnson Jr. was unanimously approved Monday night as the city’s new top cop.

He has spent the last 13 years with the Upper Darby Police Department. Most recently, he oversaw the department’s training and professional standards unit.

This is the first time in almost 70 years Dover has picked a police chief from outside the department.
