PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Three families have been displaced following a raging fire in Kensington. The blaze started inside one rowhome and quickly spread to two others.
Video from the Citizen App shows flames shooting out of the windows of a rowhome on the 3300 block of North Water Street, around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Firefighters evacuated other houses in the area as crews worked to get the flames under control. The fire was contained after about 40 minutes.
An eyewitness described the terrifying scene.
“It felt like it was going to reach across the street,” resident Yamilette Colon said. “That’s why we were all trying to get out, evacuate.”
Two other rowhomes were damaged in the fire.
Fortunately, no one was hurt but 12 people were displaced. The American Red Cross is helping the families who were displaced.
There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
