Police Keep The Peace In The Streets After Eagles Win

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) —  Police were out in full force as a wave of Philadelphia Eagles fans washed over the city's streets following the Eagles dominating performance over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night.

At halftime, police closed off the intersection of Cottman & Frankford Avenues, as a safety precaution ahead of Eagles fans taking to the streets and celebrating a Super Bowl berth.

Philadelphia Police estimate a crowd of 12,000 partygoers packed into the intersection of Frankford and Cottman Avenues in Mayfair.

Police Captain Anthony Luca told Eyewitness News there were no arrests connected to the celebration. Commissioner Richard Ross said the tone was optimistic.

Police earlier in the evening used Crisco to grease poles at the intersection to make climbing them impossible. Two attempts were made, both unsuccessful.
