Best Signature Cocktails In Philadelphia

By Victoria Miller

It's time to make a toast! Philadelphia is known for its fabulous food, but it's not too shabby in the drink department, either.  The City of Brotherly Love is home to a long list of bars and eateries that serve up delicious signature cocktails that you can't get in any other city. Read on for some of the best signature drinks available in the Philly area.

There's only one place in town you can get a Gatorade made Hillbilly style.  This South Street BBQ joint serves up a unique signature cocktail, The Hillbilly Gatorade, and it is definitely a must try. The concoction consists of Miller Hi-Life, pickle juice, and barbecue sauce—weird, we know. But one sip will change your mind, and it's proof that this place knows how to whip up a lot more than just smoked brisket and pork ribs.

Max Brenner

Chocolate lovers know the place to go when they need a liquid fix. In City Center West, Max Brenner makes the most heavenly chocolate martini in town. The to-die-for drink is made with milk and white chocolate, Absolut vanilla vodka, and crème de cacao. Decadent? Of course. And suffice it to say you can skip dessert after drinking one of these.

Specialty cocktails are all over the menu at Jose Garces' Rittenhouse hot spot, but Harvard Girl is especially special.  While the bar offers more than 200 whiskeys on its loaded menu, you just have to try this stunning drink that's made with everything but. Creator Lindsay Krueger once said the drink, made with Mount Gay rum, apricot liqueur and jam with lemon, Angostura bitters, and simple syrup, was "inspired by a girl I knew who dropped out of Harvard." We give this one an A-plus.

Philly's premier speakeasy-style bar is named after one of the most successful Prohibition Era bars of its time. But today's modern day incarnation employs only the most- skilled mixologists who methodically serve up a rotating lineup of signature drinks. One favorite is the Ghostbusters-themed drink, "There Is No Dana, Only Zuul." Made with tequila, lime cordial, cream, graham cracker bits, cinnamon and egg white, this drinkable key lime pie will have you screaming for more.

The Cuban restaurant is known for its Latin American and Caribbean cuisine, as well as its classic Cuban cocktails. The rum-based drinks take the cake.  Made with Gosling's Black Seal rum, fresh lime juice, and house-made Caribbean ginger beer, the Dark and Stormy will brighten your day, and it's a great change from the obligatory daiquiri, too.
