PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Authorities say a 24-year-old man is in custody and being questioned in connection to the hit-and-run death of a little girl in Overbrook.

Sources say authorities located and impounded the vehicle Wednesday believed to have struck and killed 8-year-old Jayanna Powell on the afternoon of November 18 as she was walking home from school with her three siblings near 63rd Street and Lansdowne Avenue.

Jayanna’s 12-year-old brother was holding her hand at the time.

She was rushed to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where she died.

Philadelphia police towed the silver Nissan Altima with significant front end damage to a garage in Feltonville.

There is no immediate word on charges at this time, but police say they are pending.

Philadelphia Police sources say the vehicle was located inside of an auto body shop in Frazer, Chester County.
