Old City Bar Recognizes Fidel Castro's Death With Free Happy Hour Cocktail

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- While the nation of Cuba is mourning the death of its former leader, Fidel Castro, parts of the United States are celebrating his passing, including right here in Philadelphia.

In recognition of Castro's death, Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar in Old City is offering a complimentary cocktail (rum and coke) to guests during Happy Hour throughout the nine days leading up to his funeral.

Beginning Saturday and continuing through December 4, guests who mention "VIVA CUBA" to the bartender during Happy Hour (5 to 7 p.m.) will receive the free drink.

The Restaurant & Rum Bar Chef-Partner, Guillermo Pernot has been leading bi-annual trips to Cuba over the past several years.

"It's not a celebration, it's just to make a statement on events that have happened over the last 50 years and to the end of a era and the beginning of a new one for the Cuban people."

Cuba Libre says the promotion is limited to one cocktail per person per day, and the restaurant encourages guests to engage in political discussion and discourse in recognition of Castro's death.

Televisions at the bar will air news coverage of Castro's death throughout the Happy Hour.
