Woman Sexually Assaulted In Philadelphia Parking Garage

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police are investigating after a 27-year-old woman reported that she was beaten and sexually assaulted in an underground parking garage beneath Love Park in downtown Philadelphia.

Crime scene investigators and detectives with Philadelphia police's Special Victims Unit were called to the Center City garage just after 11:50 a.m. Wednesday.

The victim was found at the scene bleeding from her head. The lot is primarily used by city workers and sits across from Philadelphia City Hall.

Police say the woman had been "engaged in an act" with the unidentified suspect prior to the sexual assault. They did not elaborate.

The woman was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where police say she was listed in stable condition when she walked out against the advice of staff.

The suspect remains at large.
