PHILADELPHIA (CBS)—The man who police say brutally stabbed his ex-girlfriend earlier this week in South Jersey has been captured.
Rashon A. Causey, 38, of Burlington City, was taken into custody last night inside a residence located in the 100 block of Elm Avenue.
Causey is accused of fatally stabbing his e-girlfriend, Shanai Marshall, 37, in her home in the unit block of Monroe Street, in Burlington County, just before midnight on Monday.
Marshall was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, in Trenton where she later died on Wednesday.
The victim was the mother of a young child fathered by the Causey, police say.
An autopsy performed yesterday by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood concluded the manner of death was homicide and the cause was a stab wound to the head.
Causey is being charged with first-degree murder, second-degree aggravated assault, burglary, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, among other related charges.
His bail was set at $1,050,000. He will have a first appearance in court today at 11 a.m.
