PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney took to Twitter on Thursday night and used a classic movie reference to take a jab at Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.Gas Prices Up In New Jersey, Around Nation Amid Refinery Outages
Kenney wrote on his personal Twitter account that he is wondering about the “Oompa Loompa,” vote in reference to Trump’s appearance.
Kenney is joining a line of Philadelphia mayors who have not minced words when it comes to their distaste for Trump. His predecessor, Michael Nutter also had words for Trump when he said that the businessman turned politician took “a page from the playbook of Hitler.”
Nutter was referring to Trump’s stance on banning Muslims from the United State and expressed that he wanted to ban Trump from Philadelphia.
That mention set off a war of words between Nutter and Trump, with the republican nominee said that Nutter was doing a terrible job running Philadelphia and referred to him as a “low life.”
Another former Philly mayor, Ed Rendell has also shared his opinions on Trump. Rendell was one of the organizers for the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, and blamed Trump for difficulty is raising funds for the event.MORE NEWS: Fire Crews Rush To Battle Burning House In Delaware County
“Because of Donald Trump’s candidacy, because of the things he said about Latinos and Muslims, a number of major national companies pulled out of funding the Republican Convention and then to be fair, and not to show favoritism towards us, they pulled out and didn’t fund us as well,” Rendell said.
