Cops: Man Allegedly Ran Over Victim, Struck Her Multiple Times With Shovel

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia Police say a man is charged with murder after he allegedly ran over a woman multiple times with his vehicle, then struck her several times with a shovel.

Authorities say around 8:24 p.m. on September 4, officers responded to the report of a person screaming on the 700 block of W. Louden Street.

Upon arrival, police say they found a male standing over a female, who was underneath a Nissan Maxima.

Authorities say the male is accused of repeatedly running over the victim with his vehicle. They say he then retrieved a shovel from his trunk and struck the woman multiple times.

Police say the victim, identified as Adrienne Lindsay, 52, was taken to Einstein Medical Center and pronounced dead.

The suspect, identified by police as 50-year-old Joel Horton, was taken into custody and charged with murder and related offenses.
