Police: Cop Impersonator Robs Pair Of Escorts At King Of Prussia Hotel

KING of PRUSSIA, Pa. (CBS) -- Upper Merion Police are looking for a man who pretended to be a cop and robbed a pair of female escorts in King of Prussia over the weekend.

Authorities say the man had a gun and claimed he was part of a sting operation. But Upper Merion police officials say there was no such operation.

Investigators say the man contacted two female escorts who posted an ad online, and they arranged to meet at the hotel.

It was around 2 a.m. Saturday when police say the man got to the hotel and told the women he was a cop.

"He told the women that he was gonna arrest them and that he was part of a sting operation," said Lieutenant Michael Martin. "He did not identify any particular police department. He did act as if he was a police officer."

Martin says the man was armed with a gun and wore a belt with a holster and a silver or gold star-shaped badge.

He says the man interrogated the two women for about 30 minutes, and then ran off with their money and cell phones.

Police say they're looking for this cop impersonator, who is described as having tattoos on his hands and driving a silver two-door car.
