Driver Loses Control In Camden, Smashes Through Cars, A Power Pole And Porch

CAMDEN, NJ (CBS) -- Police say a vehicle traveling too fast hit several parked cars, smashed through some porches then burst into flames in Camden, New Jersey.

The crash happened near Haddon and Newton Avenues around 4 Tuesday morning.

There are reports of two people hospitalized. At least one person was ejected from the vehicle and was found lying on the sidewalk with injuries to his head and leg.

He was taken to Cooper University Hospital.

Camden County Police and crews are now picking through the debris, trying to make sense of what happened overnight.

Police say they got reports of a car speeding north on Haddon Avenue just south of Newton when the driver lost control. The vehicle reportedly began spinning, hit a pole, another vehicle, and then a porch.

The impact to the porch is so severe, it will have to be removed and repaired.

At some point, police say the man from the vehicle was ejected and suffered injuries.

A witness, Walter Bilson, says, "I had seen the car speeding down but what really drew my attention was the car hitting the first car in line down there, then the house and everything else that it hit. The wreckage, the burning vehicle, the motor was on fire. The cops showed up like a split second after."

The driver's condition is unknown at this time.
