Construction Complete: King Of Prussia Malls Become One

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (CBS) -- With a ribbon cutting today, there is no more "Court" and "Plaza" in King of Prussia. It's known simply as the King of Prussia Mall as the 155,000 square-foot expansion connecting what used to be two buildings is officially opened.

While many malls are shuttered and being torn down, Simon Property Group President Rick Sokolov says it's no surprise King of Prussia Mall is thriving, and with this expansion, he says he believes this makes it one of the "top-five shopping environments in the entire country."

"The physical environment we have 20 restaurants, I think it's really unequaled and there are very few that can be talked about in the same breath."

Among the 50 new retailers, seven eateries described as "fast casual" together in what's called Savor King of Prussia: Sweetgreen, Shake Shake, Hai Street Kitchen. Also Melt Shop, based in Manhattan opening its 8th location and first in Pennsylvania.

"We pick and choose our real estate wisely and when we saw that this new food opportunity was opening up we really jumped on it, because this is such a busy, busy location."

The expansion beings King of Prussia to 2.9 million square feet.
