Congressman John Lewis Honored In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Congressman and civil rights leader John Lewis was honored in Philadelphia on Wednesday.

The local chapter of the Americans for Democratic Action organization celebrated Lewis' achievement at the African American Museum.

Lewis will be awarded the Liberty Medal in September at the National Constitution Center.

The event also commemorated the first time the Democratic Party adopted a strong civil rights plank -- 1948.

That's also the last time Philadelphia hosted the event.
