Man Charged With Murder After Father Discovers Son's Body In Burlington County

TABERNACLE Twp., NJ (CBS) – Police say a Pemberton Township man is charged with murder after a man was found dead by his father in Burlington County on Friday.

Authorities say David M. Stead, 42, allegedly shot and killed Thomas Wright II inside of his residence in Tabernacle Township.

Troopers were called to the home around 4:30 p.m. Friday after the victim's father found his body.

Police say the victim operated a business out of his home called Artisan Building Creations, and his family went to check on him after he did not show up at a job site.

Authorities say Stead, who was formerly employed by the victim, went to the residence with the intention of robbing him.

Instead, police say, he shot the victim multiple times in the head and neck, and fled with a small amount of cash and a rented pickup truck being used by the victim.

The truck was discovered less than a mile from Stead's residence, police say.

Stead is charged with murder, felony murder, robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and theft.

Police say he was placed in Burlington County jail on $1 million full bail.
