PHOENIXVILLE, PA. (CBS) — On Tuesday, the East Pikeland Township Police announced the arrest of a man theft. Officials say he took money from a daycare that he was placed in charge of.

Authorities say that Steve Hughes, 47, of Phoenixville, was a member of the Kimberton Fire Company. They add that Hughes was placed in charge of the ABC 123 Learning Center, a daycare that is owned by the fire company.

After an investigation, it was determined that Hughes took money from the day care’s deposits and submitted receipts for items that he used for himself.

Officials say that over three years, Hughes took $37,000 from the daycare.
