CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) — Authorities in Delaware County have arrested 15 people for their alleged involvement in Chester-based drug ring.
State Attorney General Kathleen Kane says James Townsend headed up a gang that dealt drugs in the Bennet Homes section of the city.
“Townsend and his brothers were responsible for bringing in large amounts of cocaine from the streets of Philadelphia to the Chester City area for quite some time. Investigators learned that David Toney was one source of supply to Townsend and his brothers.”
Toney is accused of supplying Townsend with up to 150 kilos of coke.
“The investigators determined that these characters sold at least 5 million to 15 million dollars worth of cocaine on the streets of Chester City for that 50 week period of investigation.”
Chester police, State police and the Delaware County DA’s Drug Task joined forces in the year-long investigation, which leaned heavily on wiretaping and confidential informants who made controlled purchases of cocaine.
