2 Killed, 2 Injured In Crash On Columbus Boulevard

By Mike Dougherty

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A violent crash kills two along Columbus Boulevard early this morning. Police identified one of them as 23-year-old Ben Jimmy of Upper Darby. The other passenger's identity, sitting in the backseat next to Jimmy has not been released. Two other passengers were also hurt in the accident.

A car with four people inside slammed into a building on Columbus Boulevard near Oregon Avenue around 2:30 this morning.

"Gave me chills. I just couldn't believe it."

The whole thing was caught on a dash camera by Uber driver Tim McKibbons. He says the driver was doing about 70 or 80 miles per hour and being reckless.

"She was running red lights. But the road was a little slick coming around that bend, so she started wobbling and hit, I guess, a bump."

And then the vehicle took a hard right and went straight into the building at a high rate of speed.

"I would say she was doing 70-80 mph."

Chief Inspector Scott Small says the two back seat passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.

"Right now, we don't know if drugs and alcohol are involved. There will be a blood alcohol toxicology test."

Driver and front seat passenger are expected to be OK.
