PA GOP Excited About Registration Changes

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Rob Gleason, the Chairman of the Pennsylvania Republican party, expressed delight when responding to recent media reports indicating 46,000 Pennsylvanian's have changed their voter registration from Democrat to Republican so they can vote for Donald Trump.

Gleason, while speaking with Dom Giordano on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, says the actual number is even higher than that.

"We're pretty excited about it. This is unusual to have this many switches, probably the most we've ever had. My numbers are like 51,000."

He stated that Trump is exciting Republican voters around the country.

"We're seeing this all over the United States. This isn't just here. We're not isolated here in Pennsylvania, although sometimes people think we are. This is happening everywhere. He's struck a nerve with the American people and they're looking for a change in Washington. They want to vote for him as soon as possible so they're going to vote for him in the primary."

Gleason indicated that, despite contrary claims, Trump will have solidified the nomination by the time the convention in Cleveland rolls around late in the Summer.

"You notice as we go from state to state, this really hasn't changed too much. Cruz has been fairly well organized, so that's allowed him to win some caucus states. Caucus is different than voting for people. We all know that. I still expect it will be over before the convention. I do not expect it to get into the convention. If it does, I'm a member of the national committee, we're ready."
