Official: Eagles Trade Byron Maxwell, Kiko Alonso To Dolphins
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- What a wild day.
After multiple, conflicting, and rampant reports indicating the trade may not happen, the Eagles and Dolphins trade involving Kiko Alonso and Byron Maxwell has finally become official.
The Dolphins acquire Alonso and Maxwell, while the teams will swap first-round picks, with the Eagles moving up five slots to pick No. 8.
The trade was in serious jeopardy due to Maxwell's shoulder injury, but ultimately became official on Wednesday.
Alonso, 25, recorded 43 tackles in 11 games played last season with the Eagles after returning from a knee-injury that kept him out of the 2014 season. Alonso was acquired via trade from the Buffalo Bills in March of 2015.
Maxwell, 28, underachieved in year one as an Eagle. After receiving a six-year, $63 million extension to join Philadelphia during the 2015 offseason, Maxwell recorded just interceptions and was often criticized by the fan base and media.
