PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Franklin Institute marked Mardi Gras on Tuesday night.

Visitors had the opportunity to delve into the science behind the decadence and gluttony of the celebration. The event was a part of the institute's "Science After Hours," series.

There were several performances on the evening including a Vaudeville style magic act.

The museum hosted a sold-out crowd of more than 2,000 people for the event.
