Interview: Chris Young On Bras, Hockey, And His Sold Out Show In Philadelphia

By Michael Cerio

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- There's a lot of ways to show appreciation for an artist. You could like them on Facebook, or perhaps actually pay for their music. In the case of Country music star Chris Young though, you throw your bra.

"I mean, it could be worse. Travis Tritt used to have people throw quarters at him," jokes Young over the phone on his way into Philadelphia for a sold out show at Electric Factory on Friday night.

Throwing a bra on stage isn't that uncommon at a concert, but asking for it back is. Such was the case earlier this month when a woman asked his crew for her bra back after the set because of how expensive it was. "The other thing too was, we were in Minnesota. It was negative nineteen. It was cold" he laughs.

No matter how much you support Chris Young and his now-platinum album I'm Comin' Over, you might want to hold on to your, ahem, support at his Electric Factory show. A blizzard is on the way and you'll need all the layers you can get. Luckily though, Chris Young and opener Cassadee Pope will hit the stage before the worst of Winter Storm Jonas hits Philadelphia.

"Very very happy we're gonna beat it, and we're gonna have a good time tonight" explains Young.

Besides dodging snow and lingerie, Chris Young has had a busy start to 2016. With a number one Country album and a string of sold out dates, it's also been announced that Young will be one of four celebrity coaches for the NHL All-Star Game in Nashville next weekend along with Dierks Bentley, Vince Gill, and Charles Kelley.

"I became a huge fan of hockey and the NHL when Nashville got the Predators" says Young. "It seems like overnight once Nashville got the Preds, so many more people became really big fans of the sport in Tennessee - which was cool for me and cool to have a team to root for. I think it's gonna be a really good time."

"I know for a fact having toured with Dierks and having been at games with Vince, that they're both really really big fans too. It's gonna be a cool event, and I love that the NHL is tying all that stuff in with the town."

Chris Young plays a sold out show on Friday January 22nd at Electric Factory in Philadelphia. To hear more from Young, listen to the full interview below.
