As the Philadelphia Eagles prepare for a showdown against Washington with the NFC  East still on the line, the Eagles reported that three players did not participate in practices on Thursday, Christmas Eve. Defensive tackle Bennie Logan and cornerback Byron Maxwell each sat out of practices on Thursday and Wednesday, which suggests their outlook for Saturday night’s game against Washington may not be very good. Wide receiver and special teams contributor Seyi Ajirotutu also sat out of practices on Wednesday and Thursday.

Maxwell is missing practice time with a shoulder injury and Logan is out due to a calf injury that has been bothering him. Eagles head coach Chip Kelly says Logan is day-to-day. If Logan is unavailable for Saturday night, expect Beau Allen to step into the starting lineup in his place.

“You never know whether or not you’re going to get your first start,” Allen told PhiladelphiaEagles.com. “You never know when it’s going to come. You might not know until gameday. I guess you just have to prepare every day like you’re not a backup. I’ve played in every game too these last two years. I don’t see myself as green by any means. You just work every week and prepare every week like you are the guy and if that time arises, you’re never surprised by it.”

If Maxwell is unavailable for any reason Saturday, it should open up a role for Jaylen Watkins or E.J. Biggers. The good news is that Eric Rowe has been improving from his concussion symptoms and has gone through full practices so far this week.

Starting quarterback Sam Bradford is still listed on the team’s official injury report with a left shoulder injury that he has played with the past few weeks. He did participate in full practices on Wednesday and Thursday though, so he should be fine for this week’s game.
