Blind Children Go On Holiday Shopping Spree In Cherry Hill
CHERRY HILL, N.J. (CBS) - Nearly 25 blind children got the chance to do some holiday shopping Sunday at the Target in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
The annual event is organized by the Lions Club and each shopper received a $50 gift card.
10-year old Ilexia was able to get something for everyone on her list including her sister and two brothers.
"I'm really grateful and it's kind of exciting because I get to shop for them and I can get them all presents," she tells KYW Newsradio.
11-year-old Isabell Nutt picked out something special for her best friend.
"It's a necklace and one half is for her, one half is for me," she says.
High School freshman Natalie Naticchia was one of the volunteers. She says she's the one who got the gift...by helping out:
"It was amazing and so fulfilling and it seriously was the highlight of my holiday season so far. I loved it so much."
The volunteers helped guide the kids through the store and make their selections. Once the shopping was done, the gifts were wrapped and ready to be placed under the tree.
And Santa made an appearance as well.
