Online Retailer Sponsors Pet Adoption Weekend
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Dozens of animals have a permanent home thanks to a special adoption event happening this holiday weekend.
Online retailer Zappos.com is sponsoring the cost of adoption fees for dogs and cats from Black Friday through Cyber Monday.
So far, more than 80 animals have been adopted at the Animal Care and Control Team of Philadelphia. Workers at the animal shelter say the savings are anywhere from $25 to a couple hundred dollars, all depending on the animal.
"We have a lot of adoptions happing this weekend, which is really great on the back of the adoption events we were running a two weeks ago," said Lukas Bird. "We have a very empty shelter with lots of animals going home, so that's great. It's a real win-win for everybody and a whole lot of animals who are going to spend the remaining of the holiday weekend not here."
More than 100 shoppers are taking part in the adoption event.
