Week 12: Eagles Studs And Duds

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- I think the city is past the point of shock and anger. This is just sad.

The Eagles just beat Dallas in overtime to improve to 4-4. They had their "easy" part of their schedule coming up, with three games against teams with below .500 records.

What the heck happened? How do you lose two straight games 45-14?

Duds

3. Billy Davis

Leaving a rookie corner in Eric Rowe on an island against a future Hall Of Fame wide receiver in Calvin Johnson, is inexplicable. It's Davis' scheme in a nut shell: disregard personnel, in a personnel driven league, line up and go play football. Someone is hurt? Next man up.

This defense has been really successful for the majority of the season, prior to the last two weeks, and you almost have to wonder if it's in spite of Davis, rather than because of him.

2. Mark Sanchez

Sanchez stinks. He just isn't able to win you games. I know his final stat line looked decent, but he's incredible inaccurate, makes bad decisions, holds the ball, and struggles to do much of anything well.

Everyone wants to roll out the stat that Chip Kelly has lost 10 of his last 15 games. Well, can we please add an asterisks mentioning that Sanchez started six, and played in seven, of those games?

1. DeMarco Murray

Where have you gone DeMarco Murray? I think Murray lost his powers, like a Space Jam character. He had 1,845 yards last year! What the heck is going?

He doesn't seem motivated anymore and losing isn't helping. It's a bad situation right now.

Studs

3. Brent Celek

The dude keeps catching balls. His touchdown on Thursday was his third of the season and 30th of his career. Celek's 364 receptions is now sixth all-time in franchise history.

2. Vinny Curry

On a day where the Eagles could barely muster an ounce of pressure on Lions QB Matthew Stafford, Curry had two sacks, giving him three and a half on the season.

1. Jordan Matthews

Matthews had just three catches, but his last one was a 24-yard touchdown and his first one was a nice shoe-string grab on a horrific Sanchez throw. Matthews seems to have erased his early season butterfingers issues, which is somewhat relieving.
