PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred on the 4000 block of E. Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia tonight.

They say a 2002 silver Pontiac was traveling in the southbound outer lanes when it struck a tree.

A male and female were extracted from the vehicle.

The female was pronounced dead at the scene at 7 p.m. while the male was rushed to Einstein hospital.

He is listed in stable condition.
