Thousands Stop By Christmas Village For First Preview Weekend

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia's Christmas Village is always a city holiday favorite, and this year, for the first time, they held a preview weekend for shoppers.

Seventy vendors set up shop inside LOVE Park during the holiday season, ready to sell homemade goods, art, jewelry and food, among other things.

The Christmas Village preview weekend allows some of the shops to open early.

" I didn't expect much I would say, but I've been blown away by how busy it's been," Jennifer with Charm Street Jewelry tells KYW Newsradio.

Sandeep opened his Felt and Wool hut, hoping to attract cold customers with hats, scarves and mittens.

" I have been doing this for the past seven years," he says. I love to be here and I love Philadelphia and every customer that comes here."

And he says he is pleasantly surprised with the preview weekend success:

" I expected less, but we got many people, it's very good."

Jennifer hopes the rest of the season pans out just the same:

"It's a profitable way to spend the Christmas season, it's a fun way to spend the Christmas season. I can't imagine being anywhere else."
