Day 2 In Trial Of Montco Woman Accused Of Burning Down Police Officer's Home
LOWER POTTSGROVE, Pa. (CBS) -- Day two of the trial of a Lower Pottsgrove woman who's accused of burning down the house of a police officer who lived next door, allegedly because of she blamed him for her son's legal problems.
The first witness called by the prosecution: Christine Morris, the wife of Limerick Township police detective Ernie Morris.
She detailed some past run-ins with the defendant, their next door neighbor, Donna Krupp. She also described the phone call they got in the early morning hours while they were on vacation at Disney World; how their 18-year-old cat was killed in the blaze; and all the family treasures destroyed in the fire, including photos, all her children's belongings, and a flag honoring her grandfather's military service.
She said, when she was shown video from their home surveillance system, she recognized the hooded person lighting the fire as her neighbor, Donna Krupp.
The defense objected and that identification was stricken from the record. Krupp's attorneys argue she is innocent, and this is a case of mistaken identity.
