Facebook Activates "Safety Check" Feature During Paris Attacks
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Facebook has activated its "Safety Check" notification system. Anyone who is in the Paris area where the deadly attacks occurred can hit an "I'm safe" button that will notify their friends that they are okay. Users can also do a search to see if any of their friends have "checked in."
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg first announced the feature on April 25, in the aftermath of the Nepal earthquake.
Friday, Zuckerberg told users the feature would be activated for the Paris terror attacks in a post where he also expressed his condolences.
