PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A month-long celebration of Italian culture called “Ciao Philadelphia” wraps up with a number of events this week.

There’s an Italian Cinema Night at Widener University on Wednesday.  On Friday, it’s a Wine and Cheese tasting at Drexel.

Andrea Canepari is Consul General of Italy in Philadelphia. For a second year, his office put together an October-long showcase of all they’re proud of.

“Highlighting the success of Italian-Americans in this region and also the Italian contribution, since the beginning, in Philadelphia. It’s a way to highlight also the international status of Philadelphia.”

A way of connecting contemporary Italy with a city Canepari has grown to love.

“I really believe that Philadelphia is a top class city. It’s a very cosmopolitan and sophisticated city.”
