Chip Kelly: Bradford 'Still Just Got Here'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Only Peyton Manning has thrown more interceptions than Sam Bradford so far this season.

Bradford has thrown nine interceptions in six games as a Philadelphia Eagle, including five in the last two games. Amazingly, in those two games, the Eagles' offense has racked up a combined 944 yards, scoring 66 points en route to back-to-back wins earning a share of the NFC East lead.

While fans and analysts may be questioning the Eagles' starting QB, the head coach is not.

"I just think it's inconsistent," Chip Kelly told Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show of Bradford's play on Tuesday. "There's times when you watch the tape and you're like, 'Wow that's a helluva throw, helluva play.' He's just a little bit inconsistent right now, I think we can build upon it.

"When you have 425 yards of offense [against the Giants], but turn the ball over four times, I think there's a lot of positives you can build," he continued. "And then obviously there's some mistakes in there that we all believe are correctable."

Kelly pointed at the fact that Bradford, who played just seven games in the previous two years with St. Louis Rams after consecutive ACL injuries, is still getting acclimated to the Eagles' offense.

"It's a combination of making sure that we get enough reps at it," Kelly said. "He just still got here, didn't benefit from a full Spring with us as he was going through his medical rehab at that point in time. There's three phases---there's medical rehab, performance rehab, and then preparing to play. We're in the prepare to play with him, but there's still a lot of time that I think, hey we acquired him last year, but really from April through mini-camp we were just trying to get him back healthy."

When asked if he's considering a quarterback change, Kelly quickly responded, "No. Not at all."
