PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Boathouse Row served as the backdrop for a gathering of seniors in sneakers today. The goal was to move and improve their lifestyle.

With a glide in their stride, hundreds of energetic older folks wearing bright orange t-shirts stepped off from Lloyd Hall for the annual Senior Strut, a one mile loop along Kelly Drive designed to promote the importance of staying active.

“I’m having a wonderful time. This is a great event for seniors to get out and exercise.”

“Just being able to enjoy my grandchildren and the rest of my family. I have to be healthy to do those things.”

Holly Lange, President of The Phila. Corporation for Aging, says this event has grown tentacles.

“Many of the seniors started walking clubs at the various senior centers throughout the city based on the senior strut.”
