For Frustrated Philly Drivers, App Puts Parking Valet A Tap Away

By KYW tech editor Ian Bush

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- An app that takes the pain out of parking your own ride: that's the idea behind a new service that's just launched in Philadelphia.

Luxe is an on-demand valet hailed by iPhone or Android.

Before you head out for your restaurant reservation, meeting, or appointment, "simply pull up the app and request a valet at the beginning of your trip," says Amy Yozviak, general manager of Luxe Philadelphia.

Up pops a picture of the person to whom you'll hand over your keys.

"A Luxe valet will meet you at your destination in a blue Luxe polo and park your car in a secure lot or garage," Yozviak explains.

It's $5/hour, and maxes out at $20/day, but you can get a $20 dollar credit with the promo code XOXOLUXE.

And like other on-demand apps, no cash changes hands.

"You can pay all of your transactions via the app," Yozviak says. "And we also can fill up your car with gas or give you a car wash."

Wharton grad Curtis Lee is behind Luxe, which launched last year and is available in nine major cities.  In Philadelphia, it works from Race to Pine Streets and 12th to 21st Streets for now.
