Hot Stretch Of Weather For Philadelphia Begins Today

By Geoff Bansen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The dog days of summer have arrived in the Delaware Valley. Let's just hope the bark is worse than the bite!

Tuesday kicks off the first of a potential seven straight days of 90 degree weather for Philadelphia, which could very well make it the hottest week of the summer. While it will remain dry into Thursday in terms of no rain, the same can not be said about the moisture content in the air. Dew point values are already on the rise, which means it will feel more oppressive than it actually is.

Things get even steamier on Wednesday with highs reaching the mid 90s, will heat indices nearing 100. Thursday will start out the same, but clouds will increase during the afternoon and thunderstorms along a cold front will rumble through late in the day. This will clear things out and lower the humidity, but it won't have a large effect on the temperatures, which will be right back near 90 on Friday, and sticking around for the weekend as well.
