Rand Paul Demands Vote To Defund Planned Parenthood

By Dom Giordano

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Kentucky Senator and Presidential Candidate Rand Paul called on the Senate to vote to defund Planned Parenthood in the wake of secret videos released by an anti-abortion group showing doctors negotiating to sell the bodies of aborted fetuses.

Paul told Dom Giordano on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT that the vote to strip Planned Parenthood of federal dollars should happen immediately.

"I think there ought to be a vote. It ought to be now. It shouldn't be in six months. It shouldn't be in a year. I've filed a petition to try to force a vote because I'm being blocked and right now it looks like they're not going to let me have a vote, but there's going to be a brewhaha over this...I'm very upset that we're going to be voting for corporate welfare but we don't have time to defund Planned Parenthood."

He believes this is more than just a pro-life issue.

"I think people are outraged by this. This isn't a small minority of people, who for one reason or another, this is a big issue for them, a life issue, this is a lot of people. The majority of the American public is horrified by these people getting taxpayer dollars who are flipping babies around in the wombs so they can better get access to the body parts that they're going to sell. This is horrific and there ought to be a vote on it."

Paul reiterated that he thinks it is wrong that public money go to an organizations that conducts this type of abortion.

"It's obscene that we are sending your taxpayer dollars. We're already in debt and we're going to borrow money to give it to a co-called physician who is turning the babies around in the womb to get better access to their body parts. This is very worrisome."
