Study: Philadelphia Ranks Among Worst Cities For Driving

By Robin Culverwell

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Summer is peak driving season, and a new study finds Philadelphia is one of the worst cities in which to drive.

The website WalletHub compared the 100 most populous cities in the country -- considering the cost of operating a car, traffic congestion, severe weather, the risk of theft and other factors and put Philly in the basement, third worst in the country.

That shocks Lori who drives to the city every day.

"I can't imagine that it's worse than any other. I mean I've driven in Boston and that was horrible."

Alex says he can believe Philly's poor ranking. He says there are too few main arteries into town and:

"Road conditions, yeah, they're terrible, I mean yeah don't get me wrong, certain areas they pay attention to more than others but you drive through West Philadelphia and you hit a pothole every 5 minutes."

Boston - by the way - ranks just four spots better than Philly.
